303 NSW Tubeless | Disc

Few carbon wheel manufacturers invest as much research in product developement as Zipp. The NSW series, being the most high-end of their products, is the cumulation of these efforts.

The Zipp 303 NSW Tubeless Disc has a lot to offer. It has a do-it-all 45mm rim depth making it ideal for road, cyclocross, gravel, etc. Because this is a disc brake wheel, the engineers at Zipp could work without the constraints of a rim brake caliper and it's braking surface. It was then possible to produce a 21mm internal/28mm external rim that is aerodynamically optimized for 28mm tires. This also makes it an ideal tubeless road setup, allowing for low air pressure, meaning better grip and puncture protection, all held in place by a tubeless specific rim bed with internal ridges to lock the tire bead in place.

This wheelset also features Zipp's unique Cognition Hubset. This hub has a disengaging ratchet system in the cassette freewheel when coasting for silent and drag-free riding. Traditional three-pawl hub designs have twice the drag than the Cognition hub and the most popular hubsets using a similar drive mechanism as Axial Clutch were found to produce four times the rotating friction.
