How to Choose the Right Cycling Jacket?
No matter your cycling discipline, whether road cycling, mountain biking, or fat biking, we undoubtedly have the cycling coat or jacket for men you need. First and foremost, when choosing the right cycling jacket, consider the conditions you'll be using your cycling coat in. Here are our recommendations for men's cycling jackets and vests based on different seasons:
Summer
During cooler summer temperatures ranging from 10ºC to 20ºC, we recommend opting for a thin cycling jacket. These are usually lighter, fitted, and made from breathable fabrics to prevent overheating during intense physical effort. On rainy or windy days, go for a waterproof rain jacket to protect your body from the elements, or a sleeveless vest with lightweight and breathable fabrics that provide slight wind protection.
Spring / Fall
Spring and fall temperatures can sometimes vary greatly within the same day. That's why we recommend choosing a windproof or waterproof long-sleeve cycling jacket or coat. Waterproof jackets (Gore-Tex) and windproof jackets (Windstopper) are ideal for temperatures between 8ºC and ºC.
What's the difference between Gore-Tex and Windstopper? Windstopper is completely windproof, breathable, and water-resistant, but not waterproof. On the other hand, Gore-Tex is completely waterproof and windproof, but it's less breathable to prevent moisture from penetrating the garment. Some clothing features include flat seams, pockets, waterproof closures, reflective details, and much more.
Winter
In winter, during temperatures below 10ºC, we recommend layering for the upper body to offer the best protection from the cold. First, choose a breathable long-sleeve cycling jersey as the base layer. Then, opt for a warm cycling jacket over your jersey, or a thermal coat that offers significant cold protection while wicking away moisture. Add a protective or outer layer for maximum weather protection.
