Traditionally, the Fuel EX8 was offered with Sram's GX groupset. For 2021, Trek offers a Shimano alternative, in the form of the all-new XT 12-speed MTB groupset. Combined with the Fox Rhythm 34 fork and Performance float EVOL rear shock at 140/130mm of travel respectively, this makes the Fuel EX8 the most capable version of the series up to date.
The lightweight Alpha Platinum aluminium frame with internal cable routing features a Straight Shot down tube for a greater stiffness as well as a Knock Block steerer stop to protect against spinning bars. Boost148/110 offers for stronger wheels, more tire clearance, shorter stays.
This model comes in a smart wheelset option, where 27'5" wheels are offered on XS ans S frames, and 29" wheels are offered in S-XL sizes. Smaller frames (XS&S) have a top tube that dips down as it approaches the seat tube, ideal for shorter riders.
